Fleetwood & Lewis deliver for Gas House
The 2023 Tour Championship was a memorable event for Team Gas House Golf, led by Captain Zane Lewis and teammate, Andy Fleetwood. Coming into the event, Fleetwood had gone winless on the season and Zane Lewis was nursing a broken hand, which led many to believe that this team didn’t have a chance. However, they were able to pull off a surprise finish with the 2nd lowest round of the day and an overall 4th place finish.
Despite his broken hand, Captain Zane Lewis was able to put in a strong performance throughout the tournament. He had played a solid round, carding a number of birdies and keeping the team in contention for the win. His experience as a three-time division A champion on the tour was an asset to the team, and his steady play helped to keep the team focused and composed under pressure.
Andy Fleetwood, who had gone winless on the season, was able to put in a strong performance in the tournament, which helped the team to achieve the 2nd lowest round of the day. He finally got the putter hot on the back nine, which included a number of birdies and an eagle, which helped to put the team in a good position to compete for the win. His great play in the critical moments of the tournament was a key factor in the team’s success.
The highlight of the teams round was coming down the stretch on the back nine. They were currently 5 shots out of the lead but ready to get things going. They started off with birdies on 15, 16 & 17, one of which was Lewis holing a 60′ biride putt from off the green with his hybrid. On 18, Fleetwood holed it from the fairway for Eagle from 158 yards on the par 4, 18th hole. This brought their team score to -8 for the day.
The team’s 4th place finish is a great accomplishment and a testament to their hard work and dedication throughout the season. This was a great way for Andy Fleetwood to cap off his season and for Zane Lewis to show that he can still play at a high level despite his injury.
