Concord Classic Recap

Dominick Vennari secures 2nd Win

The Concord Classic at Rocky River Golf Club delivered everything we hoped for — and then some.

As the fourth event of the 2025 BAG Tour season, this one carried extra weight. Not only did it mark the first event of the highly anticipated DraftKings Sportsbook Series, but it was also our first individual stroke play format of the year — and the pressure showed.

From tight battles to breakthrough performances, this event gave us a real glimpse at who’s trending up and who’s ready to make noise in the middle stretch of the season.

🏆 Division A – Venarri Goes OFF for his 2nd Victory

Dominick Venarri became the first player in 2025 to capture his second win of the season, but it didn’t come easy.

He held off a red-hot Troy Kennedy, who seems to be entering his prime with each passing round. Troy pushed hard all day and finished just one shot back, signaling that his breakout moment is coming. Behind them was a heavyweight chase group — Zane Lewis, Jerell Fields, and Andrew Watkins — all just a few putts away from flipping the script down the stretch.

The event also marked the highly anticipated 2025 season debut of defending Division A Champion, Brandon Jones. He wasted no time announcing his return, nearly acing the opening par-3 on his first swing of the season. It was a stacked leaderboard, and Dominick once again showed he’s built for the big moments.

🏆 Division B – The Breakthrough Round

Division B was a battle, that produced yet another first time Tour winner.

Joseph Helmick, a newcomer to the BAG Tour, stood alone as the only player under par — putting together a near-perfect round that will be remembered as one of the great performances in Series history. His poise and precision were enough to cool down the surging Dave Bornack, who’s been on a mission since the season began and came up just short of going back-to-back.

With so much talent rising in Division B, Helmick’s performance not only earned him the trophy — it earned him respect.

🏆 Division C – Crews Missile Lands Again

This one might go down as the upset of the year.

Brent “The Crews Missile” Crews, fresh off his promotion from Division D, walked into a stacked Division C field and walked out a champion. Racing’s rising star came in under the radar — but by the end of the day, he stood alone at the top, surviving a gauntlet of established stars.

Among the names chasing him: Dallas Honeycutt, Caleb Tench, former National Champion Wayne Carver, and the returning Mike Stearns. But none of them could catch Crews, who clinched the title with a one-shot victory on the 18th hole — reminding everyone that speed and skill travel well together.

🏆 Division D – The Layne Train Derails

Bob Vigilone grabbed his first BAG Tour win in unforgettable fashion — putting a stop to the Layne Train and outdueling Bill Layne by two shots in the final stretch.

Bob’s consistent play earned him the win, but Division D remains one of the Tour’s most unpredictable battlegrounds. Jim Goff is still looking for a spark to kickstart his season, while Eric M. heads back to the drawing board after his toughest round of the year.

Meanwhile, a trio of new names made noise: Dusty Kull, Jordan Cochrane, and Milas Trull are beginning to emerge as serious contenders to watch as we enter the summer grind.
