ROUND 1 RECAP:
Defending Champion, Dylan Lancaster, aka Big Country advances to round 2 in a hard fought battle with The Club Pro, Dalton Thompson. Shane Thompson was also eliminated in Round 1 by promising rookie, Daniel Honeycutt. Daniel looks forward to the opportunity to tee it up against Big Country and thinks he has what it takes to get the job done.
Tyler Lowman defeated Aaron Vanderpool in another tightly contested battle. The upset of round 1 was no question, that of the rookie Coston Fogleman taking down the Division A Titan, Andrew Watkins. This was an absolute stunner and Coston looks to continue making some noise in his rookie campaign as he gets set to take on Tyler Lowman in round 2.
The Young Phenom, Zane Lewis, got the job done in Round 1 against his good buddy and former teammate, Brandon Jones. Brandon played some good golf and took it the full 18 holes against the Phenom, but ulitmately fell short when he missed his lenghty Birdie putt on 18. Zach McKelvey and Ryan Whitley was arguably the featured matchup of Round 1. Both great golfers that absolutely Bomb the ball. The two battled at the beautiful Peninsula Club where the Red Rocket, Zach McKelvey pulled off the late victory. Buckle up for this next matchup as the Red Rocket takes on the heavy betting favorite, The Young Phenom.
Mike Thornburg is one of the most consistent players on Tour year in and year out. He picked up right where he left off in his first round match up against “Killa” Cam Leviner. Mike Thornburg picked up the win at Verdict Ridge in comfortable fashion and looks forward to his shot at Cory Martin in Round 2. Cory defeated the highly touted rookie in Nick Rencis in Pinehurst for thier first round match. Although Nick didnt have the debut many anticipated, we look for him to have a strong 2023 campaign. Cory Martin got the job done by finding fairways, hitting greens and making big putts when it counted. All signs point to Cory having a great year and contending for the BAG Tour Cup but only time will tell.
